Aceh Deputy Governor Fadhlullah held an audience with representatives from the Royal Danish Embassy at Menara Rajawali in Central Jakarta on Monday, September 29, 2025.
He was accompanied during the meeting by prominent Aceh youth figure, Muhammad Riza. The delegation was directly welcomed by Sten Frimodt Nielsen, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Indonesia.
The meeting was described as warm and amicable. Fadhlullah conveyed that the audience aimed to strengthen cooperation between the Aceh Administration and Denmark in the fields of energy, investment, and regional development.
Fadhlullah detailed Aceh’s position as Indonesia’s westernmost province, comprising 23 subdistricts and cities, and possessing abundant natural resources, including oil, gas, copper, gold, and iron ore. Aceh is also globally renowned for its high-quality commodities, specifically Gayo Arabica coffee, Robusta coffee, and patchouli.
He highlighted Aceh’s exceptional natural tourism appeal, such as the Mount Leuser National Park, often dubbed the “lungs of the world.” Additionally, he mentioned the strategic Sabang region as Indonesia’s zero-kilometer point, which is traversed by approximately 6,000 vessels daily.
“On this occasion, we also wish to express our gratitude to European nations, including Denmark, for their assistance to Aceh during the conflict and the tsunami disaster, and to acknowledge the history of the Aceh peace process which took place in Finland,” he remarked.
In response, Ambassador Sten Frimodt Nielsen expressed his intention to visit Aceh personally. He affirmed Denmark’s readiness to map Aceh’s potential by deploying competent experts, including those currently working within Indonesian Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry.
This mapping exercise is expected to lay the groundwork for developing various future cooperation opportunities between Aceh and Denmark.
