The visit is aimed at fostering economic co-operation between Malaysia and the Indonesian districts of North Sumatera and Aceh besides strengthening Malaysia-Indonesia bilateral ties.
Ismail Sabri has a busy schedule over the three days, with several visits to agro-related projects in Aceh and Medan and meetings with leaders in the two districts.
According to the itinerary of the visit released today, the minister is scheduled to open the office of PT Nafasindo, a subsidiary of the National Farmers Association (Nafas) operating in Aceh, tomorrow.
This will be followed by a visit to a layer chicken farm and a rice mill as well as a meeting with the Governor of Aceh, Dr H Zaini Abdullah. He is also scheduled to attend the Aceh Business Forum tomorrow.
On Sunday, Ismail Sabri is scheduled to visit the Lampulo international fishing port in Banda Aceh. That night, he is to attend a dinner with Malaysian students in Medan.
On Monday, the minister is due to have a meeting with the Governor of North Sumatera, H. Gatot Pujo Nugroho.
He is also scheduled to visit a cage fish breeding project in Medan before flying home.
