Sixteen deaf people in Banda Aceh join a barista training at Banda Aceh vocational training center (BLK) for 28 days, starting on January 11 until February 18.
Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah said her office will support the needs of the disabled for the training. “We will provide the participant’s needs during the barista class, especially for the deaf, and we hope the Aceh government will also contribute,” said the minister during the opening of the event on Tuesday, January 12.
The Ministry provides the facility for the training classes which include coffee characteristics identification, coffee brewing, until café management. Through the training, Ida hoped the disabled will be independent and have their own income.
Banda Aceh Social Department head M. Hidayat said the barista training for the disabled is able to be realized thanks to the collaboration between his office and Banda Aceh vocational training center (BLK). After the training, the government will open an independent business spot for the trainees to implement their knowledge and abilities.
The participants who have passed the barista vocational training will get a certificate that they can use to apply for a job or open their own businesses.
