Jokowi to Launch Fertilizer Factory and Digital Farmer Cards

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi has a number of work agendas in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Province. One of them is to inaugurate the NPK fertilizer factory of PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM) in North Aceh.

After the inauguration of the factory, the president will hand over the 2023 people’s business credit (KUR) and launch a digital farmer card for subsidized fertilizer.

Jokowi arrived at the Malikussaleh Airport in North Aceh Regency on Friday morning, where he was welcomed by Aceh’s Acting Governor Achmad Marzuki, TNI Military Commander Maj. Gen. Mohamad Hasan, and Ace chief of police Insp. Genes. Ahmad Haydar.

Inauguration
President Joko Widodo inaugurated the NPK fertilizer factory operated by Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM) located at the North Aceh Regency that is worth a total of Rp1.7 trillion.

“This is what we are doing and Rp1.7 trillion investment for PIM. Both for the industry and for the main port facilities” said the President in a broadcast aired on the Presidential Secretariate Office Youtube channel on February 10.

Jokowi hopes the factory will reach a production capacity of 1.4 million tons of fertilizer annually and the products can be distributed to Indonesian farmers.

He also said that this large facility is aimed to answer the problem often complained about by farmers. The president also hopes that fertilizers from the facility would be developed into exported products in the future.

The fertilizer plant is located at the Special Economic Zone in Arun Lhokseumawe, which will be developed as a green industry region. Jokowi claimed an investor for this region has been obtained and is hoped to bring positive effects to Aceh Province’s regional GDP.
