The Ministry of Communication and Digital together with the Banda Aceh City Government have prepared Banda Aceh Academy (BAA), a facility for young Acehnese to learn, collaborate, and build technology-based startups.
Through this new facility, Deputy Minister of Komdigi Nezar Patria hopes that Banda Aceh Academy (BAA) can become a center for the birth of the local startup ecosystem, and also answer the needs of Aceh’s young generation who are creative and want to expand access to startups.
“We are ready to help because this idea is also in line with the programs in Komdigi, especially for the development of the digital ecosystem,” said Nezar in his official statement quoted on Friday, September 5.
He also hopes that this BAA can strengthen the digital business ecosystem in Banda Aceh. “Because here I see young people are quite creative, have big expectations and want wider access, especially capital,” he continued.
Banda Aceh Mayor Illiza Sa’aduddin Djamal appreciated the move.
With this facility, the Aceh government hopes to participate in realizing the national program, to produce 1,000 startups.
“Because Banda Aceh Academy is not only aimed at young people in Banda Aceh, but also for all of Aceh. So collaboration with universities, SOEs and the central government will expand access to capital, job opportunities, and increase the competitiveness of digital-based MSMEs,” he said.
The presence of BAA Banda Aceh will also become a new digital economy center in Aceh, so that the younger generation will become a producer of digital innovation, not only as technology consumers.
