Jakarta – The Ministry of Communication and Digital provides internet access through the Republic of Indonesia Satellite (SATRIA)-1 to handle blank spot areas in West Aceh Regency, Aceh Province.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, explained that the capacity of the SATRIA-1 internet network could reach speeds between 4 and 5 Mbps.
According to him, of the total SATRIA-1 capacity of 150 GB, it has been divided into tens of thousands of points spread across Indonesia. In fact, the West Aceh Regency Government has an allocation of two or three points to support education and health services.
“So use SATRIA-1, the ground segment will be built later, at the points that are needed. The capacity may not be too large, but can overcome emergency or emergency communication,” said Nezar in his official broadcast quoted on Friday, May 2.
Meanwhile, the Regent of West Aceh, Tarmizi, explained that currently there are still five sub-districts out of a total of 12 sub-districts in Aceh Besar which are still blank spots.
“At the time of the power outage, the signal’s time also went out simultaneously. There in one day, the lights must have been turned off 2 to 5 times, then the signal was lost. This is an obstacle,” he said while submitting a request for a commitment from the Ministry of Communication and Industry to overcome the blank spot that is still happening.
