PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN), Pertamina’s Gas Sub holding, is accelerating the completion of the F-6004 LNG tank revitalisation project at the Arun Terminal in Aceh, according to PGN on Friday, October 10. As of June 2025, the physical construction progress of the tank has reached 81.1 per cent, while the supporting facilities have reached 94.39 per cent.
PGN Director of Infrastructure and Technology Hery Murahmanta stated that this project is a crucial component of PGN’s medium-term strategy to enhance the national gas infrastructure while expanding the LNG business in the Asian region.
“Arun has a strategic position as a potential regional LNG hub. With the completion of the revitalization of the F-6004 tank, PGN is ready to increase competitiveness and strengthen Indonesia’s role in international LNG trade,” Hery said in a written statement.
According to Hery, the large-capacity LNG tank will resume operations at the end of 2025, in line with the project’s commissioning target. Once fully operational, the terminal’s capacity is expected to increase by up to 25 per cent, which will have a direct impact on PGN’s consolidated revenue and strengthen the national energy supply chain.
In addition to supporting the LNG business, this project also has an economic impact on the surrounding community. During the construction process, the project has absorbed local labor and created new economic activity in the Lhokseumawe area and its surroundings.
“We want to ensure that the benefits of this project are not only for PGN and Pertamina, but also for the people of Aceh. This revitalization is expected to be a catalyst for regional economic growth,” said Hery.
PGN, through its subsidiary PT Perta Arun Gas (PAG), continues to maintain safety and sustainability standards in every stage of development. Strengthening LNG infrastructure is also a concrete step towards a clean energy transition and achieving the national Net Zero Emission target.
