Lhokseumawe – President Joko Widodo has inaugurated the operation of Arun Gas Engine Power Plant (PLTMG) in Lhokseumawe, Aceh, on Thursday.
President Jokowi arrived in Arun at 9:35 am. accompanied by the First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo.
The inauguration was also attended by, among others, SOEs Minister Rini Soemarno, President Director of the State Electricity Company (PLN), Head of Presidential Staff Office Teten Masduki and Aceh Governor Zaini Abdullah.
Earlier, General Manager of PT PLN Persero Aceh Branch Bob Saril said Arun power plant has met most of the demand for electricity in Aceh Province.
“The area covered [by the power plant] are streched from Banda Aceh to North Sumatra,” Bob said.
He said that Arun power plant has a capacity of 184 MW and is connected to North Sumatra Sub-system.
The power plant can add more power capacity, and he hoped that electricity crisis in Aceh would never happen again.
