Tan will visit Banda Aceh and Meulaboh from Monday to Wednesday where he will meet with local Aceh leaders and officials, said a statement from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
The minister will discuss ways to strengthen present links between Singapore and Aceh.
He will also have an opportunity to see first-hand the developments in Aceh in the 10 years since the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami.
Tan, who helped to lead Singapore Armed Forces’ (SAF) relief efforts in Aceh after the 2004 tsunami, will visit facilities in Aceh which Singapore helped to develop after the disaster.
These include the Cut Nyak Dhien Meulaboh General Hospital, the Fajar Hidayah Boarding School and the Meulaboh concrete pier.
On Wednesday to Thursday, Tan will visit Jakarta where he will have meetings with various Indonesian personalities and officials from the new administration.
He will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Manpower.
