Tourist visits to Sabang City reached 171,391 people from the beginning of 2025 through July. This figure comprises 167,320 domestic tourists and 4,071 foreign tourists.

The Head of the Sabang City Tourism Agency, Harry Susethia, conveyed that the visit figures show a positive trend despite monthly fluctuations. The Agency continues to strive to enhance tourist appeal to encourage visitors to stay longer.

“Based on the data, tourist visits to Sabang in July 2025 were dominated by domestic tourists. However, foreign tourists also made a significant contribution, even though their numbers are not yet as high as they were before the pandemic,” he explained on Monday, September 29, 2025.

He elaborated that of the total 171,000 visits, the majority came from domestic tourists, reaching tens of thousands each month. In contrast, international visitor numbers were more volatile, peaking in March and July.

“We are continuously conducting tourism promotion efforts, both through events and collaborations with tourism stakeholders. With these steps, we are optimistic that tourist visits to Sabang will continue to increase until the end of the year,” he added.

The Tourism Agency also noted that sea transport remains the main gateway for tourists entering Sabang. Visit data is compiled from the Ferry Transport E-Manifest, the Port Administrator Office, and the Sabang Immigration Office.

With the support of the government, businesses, and the community, the tourism sector in Sabang is expected to expand. Beyond simply increasing visitor numbers, the primary goal is to create sustainable tourism that generates a positive economic impact for the local population.
