Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan ensured that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will realize an investment of US$500 million in Aceh Singkil by continuing to communicate with the Minister of Energy and Industry of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Suhail Mohammed Al. Mazrouei.
The UAE was previously rumored to be investing in tourism development in Aceh. In early March, the Governor of Aceh Nova Iriansyah and the Development and Investment Cooperation with Murban Energy Limited, United Arab Emirates (UAE) which will be centered on Pulau Banyak, Aceh Singkil.
“There is a project worth 500 million US dollars that they want to invest in and they have reviewed it and have spoken. And I called, communicated with Minister Suhail, on the 13th, 14th, 15th (September) he will come to Indonesia again for a cooperation project between Indonesia- Abu Dhabi,” he said in his remarks at the National Movement for the Proud Made in Indonesia Campaign #PasarLautIndonesia in Aceh, which was monitored from Jakarta.
According to Luhut, based on discussions with the Governor of Aceh, there should be no problem with the incentives requested by the UAE.
Luhut also admitted that he had visited the Aceh Singkil area which was targeted by the UAE. The UAE has even stated that they will build a resort where Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will attend.
“The president ordered us, ordered me because I happen to be in charge, so that it is completed. And we want to finish it, of course, in the main existing regulations,” he said.
According to the minister, he went to Singkil and saw nearly 40,000 hectares of swamp with an amazingly beautiful panorama as seen by the team from Abu Dhabi.
“They want to build a resort, he want it, said Crown Prince Muhammad bin Zayed. He will also be there from time to time, he ask for a direct flight from Abu Dhabi to Singkil,” said Luhut.
